Elk Hair Caddis

Elk Hair Caddis from peter smith on Vimeo.
If you don't speak Danish either, then the title doesn't mean anything to you. But this animated graduate film from the Animation Workshop in Denmark is really entertaining and original, no matter what language you speak. I love the mix of CG and miniature backgrounds, as well as the super-stylized design and motion. Enjoy!

  1. Amazing film! loved every second of it.An Elk hair caddi is actually the name of a certain fly fishing fly, hence the title of the short.

  2. Terrific film, really entertaining, and for all the reasons you mentioned Victor. Love the miniatures/ CG mix. Really unusual, and a step in the right direction. I still can't get over how well Frog took getting a hook in his eye-- much better than I would have.

  6. I don't think it's Meindbender... I read that it's a student film, which makes it even more amazing.

  7. Thanks to everyone for the nice words, it really means a lot. And especally thanks to Victor for posting the film on the blog!

Kevin: You're absolutely right about the name. It was my favourite fly back in the days when i used to fly fish :)

Ken: I'm happy you liked the miniatures, there was quite some effort put in to them.

Vibeke: thanks :) hope it's going well in Bristol.

    Mike: Thank you :)

Herman: it is a student film, but what inspired us to make it was the "rabbit vs football" animation from meindbender.

    Johan: thanks!

    Cheers

  8. Loved it! The mix of CG and mini backgrounds was very clever and well done. Kind of made me want to dabble in that combo...if done efficiently, I'm sure it saves on rendering time! Anyway, thanks for posting that! ~N
