CTNX panel is back up on Vimeo

This video was marked "private" originally but now it's back up for public consumption.  It features Carlos Baena, Aaron Hartline, Michal Makarewicz, and myself, with Adreas Deja (!) as the moderator.  We all had a few drinks before the panel, so things are pretty loose...

  2. I am not what to sure what to make of Andreas' remark on 3d animation quotas around 21:20. Is 2d animation much faster?

Oli- hey dude! Can't seem to find the comment. But I definitely think that its a lot quicker to block something out in 2D than in 3D i.e. very easy to quickly sketch out keys than to pose out the puppet all out in 3D. I know thats certainly been the case for me moving from 2D to 3D.

Glad the video is back up :P

  5. Oliver, I think Andreas was simply remarking with surprising at amount of time Pixar animators got, on average, to work on their shot(s) in comparison to what he’s become use to over at Disney. They’ve really squeezed things a bit since the old days of Ollie, Frank & Milt Kahl.

But, I might be wrong… Andreas has a blog now, so why not go over there and ask him in a comment yourself? I'm sure he'd be happy to clarify.

(I love the internet, don't you? The fact that we can in some small way speak to these great animation guys)

  8. Well, I grew up with the movies you have worked on! (Now you can feel old as well...) And, by the way, I'm looking forward to meeting you some day and possibly being a coworker. (Woops, going off into fantasies)
