This is some work that John Lasseter did at Disney before leaving to form Pixar back in the eighties. This movie probably wont stay up on YouTube long, so enjoy it while you can!
That's awesome. Definitely glad I ran into your blog. Moreso, I'm glad my uncle brought over a zip disk full of videos he had collected from emails one of which being your Alien Song animation.
That was exceptional! Great job finding this little gem. It's interesting to see these early computer animation experiments. It's also interesting that we don't see this kind of 2D-3D blending today. I'm reminded, of course, of a lot of Studio Ghibli's recent animations, in which they've managed to blend the two styles in a way that hasn't been touched here.
It's always great to see the artists creating in action. Hopefully there's more of Lasseter's early work to be found.
Vector Test + 20 years = Animatic
ReplyDeleteAnd if I could remember right I read that Glen Keane did the 2D animation.
